Question of the Week

Each week we'll use this space to share a question (or more!) that we've received about Quercus and other Academic Toolbox tools.

This week's question is: "How can I set all of the Zoom Cloud recordings I share via the Quercus integration to publish automatically?"

This Week's Faculty Question

Q:  I am recording all of my course lectures using Zoom, but in the Quercus zoom app where all the course recordings are listed I need to manually publish each one separately. Is there a setting that would allow me to automatically publish the recordings so that I don't have to remember to do it manually each time?

A:  The default setting for auto-publishing Zoom recordings on Quercus is set to "Off" and, unfortunately, this cannot be changed since it is set at the institutional level for all University of Toronto Zoom accounts.

How to publish Zoom cloud recordings in Quercus

You would need to publish each video manually by toggling on the Publish option in the Cloud Recordings tab in Zoom on Quercus, as shown in the screenshot below:

  1. Select Cloud Recordings on the Zoom page in your Quercus course.
  2. Toggle on the Publish button for the each of the recordings you would like to to share with your students.

NOTE: Zoom cloud storage is for temporary storage only- it is not a long-term archiving or video hosting/sharing solution. Zoom cloud recordings should be downloaded for long term access. Starting in July 2022, the University of Toronto implemented a 365-day retention update on Zoom recordings. Recordings are held on the Zoom Cloud for 365 calendar days and are then deleted
